Pipette Decontamination

If your pipette has become contaminated we would recommend that one of the following procedures be carried out before further use and maintenance.

Detergent

Pipettes can be dismantled and immersed in a detergent recommended for decontaminating laboratory instruments eg. MicroSol3+. The pipette should be thoroughly rinsed and dried after total immersion.

Autoclaving

For PIPETMAN® the tip holder and tip ejector can be autoclaved. For other makes and models of pipettes please see the manufactuers guidelines.

UV

By exposure to 300nm UV light for 15 minutes. This method is not recommended for pipettes beacuse, unlike contaminating liquids or vapours, UV rays cannot penetrate inside the pipette.

To enable us to comply with COSHH Regulations, all pipettes used with hazardous materials must be decontaminated of all hazards and not present a risk to the service technician prior to service & calibration. Please complete our decontamination certificate declaring the items as hazard free and enclose the certificate with your pipettes for servicing.
