I tested the new Bambanker system from Anachem with my Calu-3 cell line. I was very pleased with the results I obtained from the Bambanker and could see an increase in yield of approximately 20%. I found the system to be extremely easy to use as I didn’t need to perform any dilutions or use any additives. It is very simple, I just added Bambanker to my cells and placed them into the -80ºC freezer before transferring to liquid nitrogen the next day.

At the Department of Surgery, Royal Free Hospital London we were pleased to evaluated the new serum-free medium BAMBANKER™ that’s now available in the UK from Anachem Ltd.
Our first trial was with primary human aortic smooth muscle cells that were frozen in accordance with the operating procedure for Bambanker, stored at -80oC and successfully revived a week later. Our second test was with a SW620 human colon cancer cell line, which again was frozen in accordance with the operating procedure and stored at -80oC for a few days. The cells were again successfully revived.
We did not calculate the % recovery but we were very happy with the resulting cells after revival. Because of these trials, we feel that the advantages of the simple method employed and good cell recovery achieved with the Bambanker solution are considerable and we will definitely be using it from now on to freeze all our cells in the cell bank.

Bambanker 20ml Cell Freezing Media for improved cell recovery Pk1
Anachem Ltd is pleased to introduce the new Bambanker™ system that will save you time and money and greatly improve your cell recovery rates compared to regular cell freezing media. Bambanker™ is a patented, unique formulation, serum-free medium that enables long-term storage of cultured cells directly at -80°C and in liquid nitrogen. The medium can be used for the freezing and preservation of valuable and sensitive tumour or non-tumour culture cells producing higher numbers of intact cells after thawing.
Bambanker is extremely easy to use requiring no dilutions or addition of other components such as DMSO or glycerol. There is no need for a programmable freezer or sequential freezing steps, saving you time. With a shelf life of 24 months when stored at 2 - 10°C it offers a hassle-free, cost effective option for your cell storage.
A serum-free media guarantees there is no risk of contamination from unidentified ingredients, virus particles, serum proteins or mycoplasma that have the potential to interfere with cells, especially stem cells. With a pre-mixed formulation, the risk of batch-to-batch inconsistency from serum variations is eliminated.
